Overview

RNU6-5P is a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 snRNA is an essential RNA component of the spliceosome, involved in pre-mRNA splicing and catalyzing intron removal from pre-mRNA in the nucleus[1][4]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-5P represent inactive genomic loci derived from retrotransposition or duplication events and lack known biological function[2][6]. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed or influence gene regulation, there is no current evidence that RNU6-5P is functional or relevant as a molecular target. The true functional entity is U6 small nuclear RNA, which, in its active form, engages in the catalytic steps of the splicing cycle and is fundamental to mRNA processing in eukaryotic cells[1][4]. RNU6-5P, as a pseudogene, is simply a remnant in the genome and serves primarily as a marker for retrotranspositional activity but has no direct medical or biological relevance for drug targeting[6]. Do not treat RNU6-5P as a therapeutic or biomarker target. It is a pseudogene with no coding capability, no established function, and no known role in disease or drug response.
