RNA, U6 small nuclear 506, pseudogene (RNU6-506P) is a human pseudogene corresponding to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[1]. U6 snRNAs are small nuclear non-coding RNAs involved in the core catalytic steps of pre-mRNA splicing as components of the spliceosome[3][5]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-506P does **not code for a functional U6 snRNA molecule** and is generally not transcribed into a mature, active snRNA[1]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-506P may sometimes be transcribed into non-coding RNAs with potential, poorly understood regulatory roles, such as miRNA sponge activity or epigenetic modification, but **most lack confirmed biological function, are not drug targets, and have not been directly implicated in human disease**[2]. RNU6-506P is not considered a therapeutic target, and there are no known drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns associated with this pseudogene.
