RNA, U6 small nuclear 530, pseudogene (RNU6-530P) is a non-protein-coding derivative of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene that has accumulated mutations or sequence changes preventing it from producing functional U6 snRNA[1][5]. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved non-coding component of spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) essential for pre-mRNA splicing within the eukaryotic nucleus[5]. However, pseudogene copies like RNU6-530P are generally not expressed as functional snRNAs and are not involved in catalysis of splicing or other recognized molecular processes. Although some pseudogenes can influence gene regulation by acting as miRNA sponges or through competing endogenous RNA effects[4], there is no published evidence of RNU6-530P having such activity or relevance in disease.
