Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 584, pseudogene (RNU6-584P) is a pseudogene belonging to the family of small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs), specifically related to U6 snRNA[1][6]. U6 snRNA plays an essential role in the catalytic core of the spliceosome, which removes introns from precursor mRNA during splicing; however, pseudogenes like RNU6-584P are non-functional copies produced through retrotransposition or duplication events and do not participate in canonical splicing biology[1][6][7]. These pseudogenes are abundant in vertebrate genomes and serve primarily as genomic markers of retrotranspositional activity, rather than as active molecular targets or therapeutic receptors[7]. As such, RNU6-584P is not functionally associated with disease processes, drug interactions, or used as a biomarker or therapeutic target.
