RNA, U6 small nuclear 595, pseudogene (RNU6-595P) is a processed pseudogene found in the human genome, specifically mapped to chromosome 12 (coordinates 62,334,091-62,334,197, GRCh38)[3][7]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-595P are copies of noncoding RNA genes (in this case, U6 small nuclear RNA, which plays a role in splicing as part of the spliceosome) that have lost function through mutations or truncations[4][3]. These are typically byproducts of the genome’s retrotransposition machinery, notably LINE-1 (L1) elements, and do not produce functional RNA or protein. Pseudogenes may serve as markers of past retrotransposition events and genome evolution but are not considered functional targets for drug development[4].
