RNA, U6 small nuclear 602, pseudogene (RNU6-602P) is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA family in the human genome[1][3][5][7]. It is not a protein-coding gene, nor does it encode a functional small nuclear RNA involved in the spliceosome. Instead, RNU6-602P is a product of retrotransposition events that do not produce an active transcript capable of participating in RNA splicing. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, which is a core component of the spliceosome complex essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes, this pseudogene is generally regarded as nonfunctional in direct biological processes. However, emerging research suggests that some RNA pseudogenes can have regulatory functions—such as acting as miRNA sponges, generating endo-siRNAs, or being transcribed into noncoding RNAs with possible regulatory impact—but such functions have not specifically been established for RNU6-602P[2][4][6]. Thus, RNU6-602P is best described as a genomic remnant of an RNA gene, without known drug interaction or therapeutic relevance, and is not considered a druggable or classical molecular target[3][6][7].
