Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 612, pseudogene (RNU6-612P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, involved in pre-mRNA splicing[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-612P are considered genetically inactive copies, arising from duplication or retrotransposition events, and do not produce functional RNA or protein products[4]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-612P lacks biological activity, is not a therapeutic target, and does not participate in canonical U6 snRNA functions. Although some pseudogenes have regulatory or disease roles, there is no evidence directly linking RNU6-612P to any function or pathology in current scientific literature[4][5].
