Overview

RNU6-615P is a member of the family of U6 small nuclear RNA pseudogenes, located on chromosome 4 in the human genome[4]. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but generally lack biological activity and do not encode active proteins or RNAs. While parental U6 snRNA plays a vital role in pre-mRNA splicing as a core catalytic component of the spliceosome[3][5], RNU6-615P does not participate in this process. U6 snRNA pseudogenes are commonly found throughout the genome and are produced during retrotransposition events, often mediated by LINE-1 elements[7]. These pseudogenes may serve as markers of genomic retrotransposition activity and evolutionary dynamics, but they are not considered functional therapeutic targets nor do they have direct disease implications[1][7]. There is nothing to suggest that RNU6-615P encodes a protein, functions in cell signaling, or acts as a therapeutic receptor or enzyme. It should not be listed as a candidate for structured drug target databases.
