Overview

RNU6-626P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family, designated as "RNA, U6 small nuclear 626, pseudogene." Pseudogenes like RNU6-626P originate from functional genes but accumulate mutations that prevent their expression as functional RNAs or proteins. U6 snRNA is a central component of the spliceosome, essential for mRNA splicing in eukaryotes; however, this pseudogene is not known to be transcribed into a functional RNA and has no established biological function, disease association, interaction with drugs, or role as a therapeutic target[4][5]. The presence of multiple U6 pseudogenes in the genome is believed to reflect the evolutionary importance of the canonical U6 snRNA, but pseudogenes themselves, including RNU6-626P, are not considered functional or directly involved in cellular processes[3][4][5].
