RNU6-635P is a human pseudogene within the U6 small nuclear RNA family, classified as a non-coding RNA gene. Pseudogenes resemble functional genes but typically carry mutations or truncations that prevent normal gene expression or function; they do *not* encode a protein product and are often transcriptionally silent[4][5]. While the core U6 snRNA is involved in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome[1][3], the pseudogene version (RNU6-635P) is not functional in splicing. Some pseudogenes may acquire regulatory roles (such as acting as miRNA decoys or antisense RNAs), but there is currently no evidence that RNU6-635P has any such function[2].
