Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 636, pseudogene (RNU6-636P) is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[4]. U6 snRNA is a highly conserved component of the spliceosome, a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, RNU6-636P itself is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-coding genetic element derived from the ancestral functional U6 gene, but lacks functional RNA output and is not involved in active cellular or therapeutic processes[4][5]. Human genomes contain many U6 snRNA pseudogenes, reflecting the evolutionary significance and high conservation of the original U6 gene[3][5]. There are no known roles for RNU6-636P in disease, therapy, or as a biomarker or drug target.
