Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 64, pseudogene" (RNU6-64P) is a *pseudogene* derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[4][7]. U6 snRNA is an essential uridine-rich non-coding RNA that participates in the spliceosome complex, catalyzing the removal of introns from pre-mRNA during mRNA splicing[1][5]. However, *pseudogenes* like RNU6-64P are non-functional genomic sequences that result from duplication or retrotransposition events involving U6 snRNA[4][7]. They do not encode a functional RNA product and typically do not participate in the splicing process or any other known cellular functions. The proliferation of U6-derived pseudogenes is considered a marker of retrotransposon activity and RNA retrotransposition dynamics within the genome[7]. There is no evidence for their use as therapeutic targets or for specific involvement in disease, nor are there currently any drugs interacting with or modulating RNU6-64P function.
