Overview

RNU6-643P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 643, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene representing a non-functional copy of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene[6][7]. U6 small nuclear RNAs are fundamental components of the spliceosome, catalyzing pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-643P no longer produces a functional RNA and does not contribute to spliceosomal activity. Pseudogenes like RNU6-643P arise from duplication or retrotransposition of functional U6 snRNA genes and can serve as genetic markers of genomic evolution and retrotransposition events but do not have known biological activity or therapeutic relevance[5][7].
