RNA, U6 small nuclear 646, pseudogene (RNU6-646P) is a non-coding RNA gene locus classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional derivative of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene[2][5]. U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) is a highly conserved component of spliceosomal complexes involved in pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3], but the pseudogene variant such as RNU6-646P does not encode functional snRNA and does not participate in spliceosome formation or cellular functions[2]. While a vast number of U6 snRNA pseudogenes are scattered throughout the genome and can contain sequence remnants of authentic U6 snRNA (sometimes with limited transcriptional capacity), they are not generally biologically active and are not recognized as drug targets or functional proteins[3][5]. Some pseudogenes in other gene families have regulatory roles in disease; however, RNU6-646P is not documented to act as a regulatory element, biomarker, or have interactions with drugs[6].
