U6 snRNA is normally required for pre-mRNA splicing by coordinating the catalytic core of the spliceosome, but pseudogenes like RNU6-649P generally do not produce a functional product and are not involved in splicing or any biological process[3][5][6]. Sequencing data confirm that human genomes contain many pseudogene copies of U6 snRNA, such as RNU6-649P, which are believed to result from evolutionary duplications and insertions and lack evidence of expression or participation in cellular functions[5]. The RNU6-649P locus is annotated as a non-coding RNA pseudogene, and no experimental data supports a role in molecular function, biological process, or human disease[4][6]. RNU6-649P is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in pathology or used as a biomarker or drug target.
