Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 654, pseudogene (RNU6-654P) is a pseudogene that is derived from the gene encoding U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), which itself is a highly conserved non-coding RNA essential for the splicing of pre-mRNA as part of the spliceosome complex[1][5]. RNU6-654P is a non-functional gene copy; it does not encode a functional protein or RNA molecule and is not considered an active participant in biological pathways or a therapeutic target[1]. Like other U6 pseudogenes, it likely arose through genomic duplication or retrotransposition. Although some pseudogenes can exert regulatory functions by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or affecting gene expression through antisense or epigenetic mechanisms, there is currently no specific evidence that RNU6-654P has such roles[2]. It is not associated with any disease mechanisms or drug interactions, and is primarily cataloged as a genomic locus rather than a pharmacological or biomarker target[1].
