Target
RNU6-656P
Molecular classification

01

Overview

RNU6-656P is a human pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA family. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but generally non-functional due to accumulated mutations or lack of essential regulatory elements. The U6 small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs) play a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing by assembling in the spliceosome complex, but pseudogenes like RNU6-656P do not encode functional snRNA and do not participate in splicing. Some pseudogenes can have biological roles as non-coding RNAs that influence gene regulation through mechanisms such as competing for microRNAs or interacting with RNA-binding proteins, but specific functional studies for RNU6-656P are not reported.

02

Biological functions

Other (Pseudogene functions may include acting as regulatory non-coding RNAs by decoying microRNAs, modulating parental gene expression, or generating non-coding RNAs, but this is general for pseudogenes and not specifically established for RNU6-656P)
03

Disease associations

Other (Pseudogenes have regulatory roles in cancer and other diseases, but specific evidence for RNU6-656P is lacking; disease relevance is not directly established)
