RNU6-668P is a pseudogene identified in the human genome, derived from U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA)[2][7]. U6 snRNA itself is a core, highly conserved component of the spliceosome, responsible for the excision of introns from pre-mRNA and thus essential for mRNA maturation[1][3]. However, RNU6-668P is a nonfunctional DNA sequence resembling the U6 snRNA gene, classified specifically as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes like RNU6-668P are generally transcriptionally silent and do not produce functional RNA or protein products; their presence in the genome is typically a result of gene duplication events or retrotransposition, followed by accumulation of disabling mutations that prevent biological activity[5][7]. There is no evidence that RNU6-668P plays a role in any cellular function, disease process, or therapeutic mechanism. It does not encode a receptor, transporter, enzyme, or any other targetable molecule.
