RNA, U6 small nuclear 677, pseudogene (RNU6-677P) is one of many non-functional copies (pseudogenes) derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene. The functional U6 snRNA is essential in the spliceosome, participating in pre-mRNA splicing by forming a catalytic core with other snRNAs[1]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-677P are common in vertebrate genomes, but they do not produce functional RNA and have no known role in biological processes or disease. They are not considered therapeutic targets[1][2]. In general, while some pseudogenes can exert regulatory effects at the RNA level, there is currently no evidence or literature indicating a functional, regulatory, or disease-modifying role for RNU6-677P specifically.
