RNU6-680P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family, a group of non-coding RNAs most notable for their essential role in pre-mRNA splicing as components of the spliceosome[3]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-680P has lost its ability to encode a functional RNA molecule and does not participate in typical U6 snRNA activities, nor does it interact with or form part of spliceosomal complexes[2][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-680P may sometimes be transcribed and, in rare cases, could influence gene expression through mechanisms such as antisense RNA or miRNA sponging, but there is no current evidence that RNU6-680P has such functions[4]. It should not be considered a therapeutically actionable target, nor does it have any established clinical or drug interaction role[2][4].
