Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 739, pseudogene (RNU6-739P) is a human gene classified as a processed RNA pseudogene located on chromosome 3 (3:64,511,755-64,511,857 on the positive strand)[1][3][5][7][9]. It is derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA, which is a component of the spliceosome essential for pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-739P itself does not produce a functional snRNA molecule. As with many pseudogenes, it is not known to encode a protein or to have a conserved, specific biological function. However, some pseudogenes, including noncoding RNA pseudogenes, may act as regulatory elements by sequestering microRNAs or interacting with other nucleic acid or protein molecules[2]. There are no direct links to diseases, biomarkers, drugs, or therapeutic targeting associated with RNU6-739P. It is not considered a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, transporter, or transcription factor, but is annotated as a noncoding pseudogene in major genomic databases[1][3][5][7][9].
