01

Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 749, pseudogene (RNU6-749P) is a human pseudogene derived from sequences homologous to the U6 small nuclear RNA genes, which are involved in RNA splicing as part of the spliceosome complex[5][3]. RNU6-749P is classified as a non-protein-coding pseudogene and is located on chromosome 15 (GRCh38, reverse strand)[5]. Like other pseudogenes, it is generally considered nonfunctional in terms of protein coding, but it may potentially have regulatory roles at the RNA level by acting as a long non-coding RNA or through competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanisms, although there is no direct functional evidence for this particular pseudogene[4][6]. There is currently no evidence that RNU6-749P is involved in human disease, serves as a biomarker, or is targeted by any drugs[1][5][7].

02

Mechanism of action

Not applicable. No drugs or therapeutic approaches target pseudogenes like this specifically.

03

Biological functions

Possible regulatory functions through non-coding RNA mechanisms, though no direct evidence specific to RNU6-749PPseudogenes in general may regulate gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level in some cases (RNA processing, miRNA sponging, siRNA production)No functional data on this specific pseudogene is available.
04

Disease associations

None specific to RNU6-749PSome pseudogenes are implicated in cancer or other diseases via general regulatory mechanisms or as disease biomarkers, but there is no evidence for a direct role of RNU6-749P
