RNA, U6 small nuclear 770, pseudogene (RNU6-770P)

Target
RNU6-770P
Molecular classification
Processed pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-770P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene. U6 snRNA itself is an essential noncoding RNA that functions as part of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) for pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome[3][5]. The RNU6-770P pseudogene is a nonfunctional sequence arising from retrotransposition, lacks a promoter, and is not transcribed or translated into a functional product[2][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-770P are common genomic elements and do not encode protein or functional RNAs. While some pseudogenes can act as regulatory RNAs and participate in gene networks, there is no evidence that RNU6-770P possesses such roles, nor is it a disease-related or therapeutically relevant entity[4].
