Overview

RNU6-771P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 771, pseudogene) is a genomic pseudogene belonging to the U6 snRNA family but is classified as non-functional and does not encode a protein or functional RNA. U6 snRNA itself is a component of the spliceosome complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but RNU6-771P, as a pseudogene, does not participate in this process or produce functional small nuclear RNA. Pseudogenes occasionally acquire regulatory roles such as antisense RNA or miRNA decoy effects that influence parental gene expression, but there is no evidence that RNU6-771P has any such activity. RNU6-771P is included in genomic annotation for reference purposes and is not considered a drug target or biomarker.
