RNU6-791P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 791, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[1][3]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-791P are generally DNA segments resembling functional genes but are noncoding and usually nonfunctional due to mutations, deletions, or insertions[6]. While functional U6 snRNAs play a key role as core components of the spliceosome (the macromolecular complex responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells)[5], RNU6-791P is annotated as a “pseudogene” and is not known to produce a functional RNA or protein product[1][3]. There is no evidence to support that RNU6-791P serves as a therapeutic target, is involved in classical biological functions, interacts with drugs, or is clinically actionable in any direct manner. More broadly, some pseudogenes can act as regulatory noncoding RNAs (such as ceRNAs or antisense RNAs) or have roles in disease through indirect regulation, but no functional or disease associations are reported for this specific pseudogene[6].
