RNU6-801P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family, located within the human genome[1][2]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-801P arise through mechanisms such as retrotransposition, often facilitated by LINE-1 (L1) elements, and do not produce functional RNA products[2]. The parental U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome complex, playing a crucial role in the excision of introns from pre-messenger RNA during the process of splicing in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells[5][3]. However, RNU6-801P itself does not contribute to splicing or other cellular functions, and there is no evidence that it serves as a disease biomarker, therapeutic target, or has any interacting drugs or clinical relevance. Pseudogenes can occasionally be involved in gene regulation or used as markers of retrotransposition, but no such roles have been described for RNU6-801P[4][2].
