The gene product is a pseudogene derived from snRNA involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but as a pseudogene, it does not produce a functional RNA or protein. U6 snRNA itself is an essential component of the spliceosome, which catalyzes intron removal from pre-mRNA, but pseudogenes like RNU6-805P are considered non-functional genomic elements that have arisen through retrotransposition events, often mediated by LINE-1 activity[2][4][5].
