RNU6-809P is a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene. The functional U6 snRNA is central to the spliceosome, cooperating with other snRNAs and proteins to catalyze removal of introns from pre-mRNA in the nucleus—a critical step in gene expression in eukaryotes[1][3]. RNU6-809P, however, is a non-coding pseudogene variant and is not known to contribute directly to splicing or any other biological activity. Some pseudogenes have been implicated in gene regulation as miRNA decoys or competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), but there is no specific evidence that RNU6-809P serves any such function[4]. In general, pseudogenes like RNU6-809P lack therapeutic relevance, do not act as receptors, enzymes, or other drug targets, and are not used as biomarkers in clinical practice[1][3][4].
