RNU6-816P is a processed pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA. U6 snRNA is a highly conserved and essential component of the spliceosomal complex, responsible for the excision of introns from pre-mRNA during splicing[3][1]. However, RNU6-816P itself is a pseudogene; it is a genomic sequence resembling the U6 snRNA gene but does not produce a functional RNA molecule. Pseudogenes generally lack promoter elements or accumulate mutations that prevent normal transcription or function[2][4]. Although pseudogenes can sometimes regulate parental gene expression by producing noncoding RNAs or through other mechanisms, RNU6-816P has no described biological activity, regulatory function, or disease association[4][6][7].
