Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 836, pseudogene (RNU6-836P) is a pseudogene version of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, the complex responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells[1][5]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-836P are non-functional sequences that arose from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and do not code for a functional RNA or protein. While the U6 snRNA gene and its mature RNA are highly conserved and critical for splicing[1][5], pseudogenes like RNU6-836P have limited or no expression and are not known to perform biological activities or serve as therapeutic targets[3][6]. There are many U6-related pseudogenes in the human genome, but they are not considered to have independent biological or clinical significance and are not utilized as targets for pharmacological intervention[3][6]. The presence of many U6 pseudogenes emphasizes evolutionary pressures on U6 gene conservation but does not confer functional significance to the pseudogenes themselves. No known drugs, disease associations, or biomarker roles are documented for RNU6-836P.

Other names
RNU6-836PRNA, U6 small nuclear 836, pseudogene
02

Mechanism of action

None known (pseudogene; not a functional protein or regulatory RNA)[2][3][6]

03

Biological functions

Other (no established function; derived from a functional snRNA gene but is not known to play an active biological role)
04

Disease associations

Other (no evidence implicating RNU6-836P in disease; U6 snRNA itself is essential for splicing, but pseudogenes have not been shown to play a direct role in pathology)[5]
