Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 860, pseudogene (RNU6-860P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 3. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-860P originate from genes involved with the U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) family but have lost the ability to encode functional RNA due to mutations or truncations[1][7]. U6 snRNA pseudogenes are remnants of retrotransposition events and do not produce functional transcripts or proteins. As non-functional elements, they do not currently play a role in drug targeting, human disease, or molecular therapy. Some research uses U6 snRNA pseudogenes as markers to study retrotransposition dynamics and genome evolution but not as functional disease- or therapy-related entities[2].
