RNU6-877P is a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) gene family, annotated in the human genome (NCBI Gene: 106480617, Ensembl: ENSG00000206595). Unlike the functional U6 snRNA, which is a key component of the spliceosome and mediates excision of introns from pre-mRNAs, pseudogenes such as RNU6-877P generally lack protein-coding capacity and do not perform the core biological functions of their parent gene. Most pseudogenes are non-functional genomic relics; however, emerging evidence suggests some pseudogenes may exert epigenetic or post-transcriptional regulatory roles, including acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), generating siRNAs, or modulating gene expression via interaction with RNA-binding proteins. There is no current evidence to suggest that RNU6-877P itself plays any specific regulatory, physiological, or pathological role.
