RNU6-882P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 882, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA, a key component of the spliceosome responsible for intron removal from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes[1][5]. While the canonical U6 snRNA plays an essential and evolutionarily conserved role in RNA splicing, the RNU6-882P locus is a non-functional, non-coding sequence and is not transcribed into a functional RNA or protein[1]. There is no evidence that RNU6-882P itself acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any therapeutic target, nor is it associated with disease modulation or used as a biomarker. The existence of many U6 pseudogenes in the genome suggests past retrotransposition events and highlights the critical evolutionary importance of the U6 snRNA gene[5].
