Overview

RNU6-886P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 886, pseudogene) is a non-coding RNA locus classified as a pseudogene; it is derived from the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene but contains sequence changes or truncations that render it non-functional as an snRNA. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, the molecular complex responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. Many copies of U6 snRNA pseudogenes exist in the human genome, generated primarily by LINE-1 (L1) retrotransposition[4]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-886P do not produce functional RNAs or proteins and are not considered direct drug targets, receptors, enzymes, or otherwise functional biomolecules[4]. They do not have established roles in human disease, therapeutics, or biomarker strategies. The presence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes, however, provides insight into retrotransposon history and genome evolution[4]. There is no evidence for RNU6-886P being a therapeutic target or having direct relevance to drug discovery or patient selection. Key notes: - This entry is for a pseudogene, not a functional gene or receptor[2][4]. - The presence of "pseudogene" in the name, and lack of functional information, makes it "incorrect" as a classical molecular target for therapeutics. - No interacting drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are associated with this locus.
