RNU6-913P is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA, meaning it is a non-functional sequence in the genome that resembles the gene encoding the U6 snRNA but does not produce a functional RNA product. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved small nuclear RNA that is an essential component of the spliceosome complex, where it plays a catalytic role in pre-mRNA splicing by helping to catalyze the excision of introns and ligation of exons in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells[1][3]. The genomic landscape contains many copies of real U6 snRNA genes as well as numerous pseudogenes; RNU6-913P is one such pseudogene copy[1][5]. As a pseudogene, RNU6-913P does not confer any known biological function, is not involved in disease processes, and is not a drug target.
