RNU6-926P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 926, pseudogene) is a member of the large family of U6 small nuclear RNA-derived pseudogenes found in the human genome. U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA) is a highly conserved non-coding RNA essential for pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome complex[3][1]. However, the RNU6-926P gene itself is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional copy of the U6 snRNA gene that is incapable of producing the functional RNA and thus does not contribute directly to spliceosome activity. Pseudogenes are typically the result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and, while most lack protein-coding function, they can sometimes participate in gene regulation via non-coding mechanisms (e.g., serving as competitive endogenous RNAs, decoys for miRNA, or sources of regulatory RNAs)[4]. There is no evidence suggesting RNU6-926P is a therapeutic target, nor is there indication of its involvement in disease or interaction with any drugs.
