RNA, U6 small nuclear 931, pseudogene (RNU6-931P) is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, participating in mRNA splicing, but RNU6-931P does not produce functional RNA. Instead, it arises via L1-mediated retrotransposition, resulting in a non-functional genomic copy. Such pseudogenes are typically non-coding and play no known biological role; they may serve as evolutionary markers of retrotransposon activity and do not participate in disease mechanisms, signaling, nor as therapeutic targets[1][2].
