Overview

RNU6-951P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved, essential component of the spliceosomal complex, participating in pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes by forming dynamic RNA-RNA interactions during spliceosome assembly and activation. However, pseudogenes such as RNU6-951P do not encode functional snRNA or protein; instead, they are typically non-functional DNA sequences that may be transcribed into non-coding RNAs. Some pseudogene RNAs can influence cellular pathways by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), miRNA sponges, or regulators of parental gene expression. There is no evidence that RNU6-951P is a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or actively involved in signaling or disease; it is not considered a therapeutic target. Its functional role, if any, would be restricted to possible RNA-mediated regulatory effects, and there is no direct disease association or drug interaction known for this specific pseudogene.

Biological functions

Functions as a pseudogene RNA, not as an active protein or enzyme.Pseudogene RNAs may act as antisense RNA.Pseudogene RNAs may serve as small interfering RNA (siRNA).Pseudogene RNAs may compete for endogenous miRNAs (ceRNA activity) as a decoy.Pseudogene RNAs may modulate parental gene expression via epigenetic regulation.Pseudogene RNAs may affect RNA-binding protein interactions.

Disease associations

Pseudogenes are increasingly studied for roles in cancer and other diseases via RNA-level regulatory effects, but no direct evidence for disease involvement of RNU6-951P specifically was found.
