**RNA, U6 small nuclear 959, pseudogene** (abbreviated as **RNU6-959P**) is a human pseudogene member of the U6 small nuclear RNA family, classified as a non-coding RNA locus that does not encode a functional protein or enzymatic product[5][7]. Like other snRNA pseudogenes, it closely resembles the U6 snRNA genes, which are integral to the spliceosomal machinery essential for pre-mRNA splicing in the nucleus[6]. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-959P represent transcriptionally inactive or minimally active genomic elements, often originating from duplication or retrotransposition events of functional genes. Some pseudogenes have acquired secondary regulatory roles, such as acting as decoys or sponges for microRNAs or RNA-binding proteins, thereby modulating gene expression post-transcriptionally[4]. There is emerging evidence that pseudogenes can impact disease states—particularly in cancer—by affecting the expression of their parental or unrelated genes through these ceRNA mechanisms, although specific disease roles for RNU6-959P have not been reported[4]. RNU6-959P is not classified as a therapeutic target, and no known drugs or direct therapeutic interventions are associated with it.
