Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 964, pseudogene (RNU6-964P)

Target
RNU6-964P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, non-protein-coding RNA, small nuclear RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-964P is a human pseudogene belonging to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. The canonical U6 snRNA is a highly conserved, non-coding RNA that is an integral component of the spliceosome, essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic nuclei. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-964P has sequence similarity to the U6 snRNA gene but is generally non-functional and not transcribed into a product that participates in spliceosome assembly or function. U6 snRNA pseudogenes are common throughout the human genome, contributing to genetic diversity but not directly involved in cellular processes such as signal transduction, cell cycle control, or disease mechanisms. There is no evidence that RNU6-964P acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or is implicated in pathology or drug response, based on current genomic and biomedical databases.

02

Biological functions

Other (as a pseudogene, no established biological function; related functional genes are involved in pre-mRNA splicing)
03

Disease associations

Other (no evidence for direct roles in disease; however, some pseudogenes participate in gene regulation or can be involved in disease in rare cases, but there is no literature indicating RNU6-964P involvement)
