RNA, U6atac small nuclear 20, pseudogene (RNU6ATAC20P) is a non-coding RNA gene classified as a pseudogene. It is one of several *U6atac small nuclear RNA* pseudogenes found in the genome; these are derived from ancient duplication and retrotransposition events of the functional U6atac snRNA gene. The canonical U6atac snRNA is a component of the minor spliceosome, which is responsible for splicing a rare class of introns in cellular pre-mRNA. As a pseudogene, RNU6ATAC20P is not believed to produce a functional RNA product, nor does it encode a protein. While some pseudogenes have acquired regulatory functions—such as being processed into small RNAs involved in gene regulation or serving as miRNA decoys—no particular function has been attributed to RNU6ATAC20P, and it is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target[3][5][7]. There are no drugs, disease associations, or safety issues linked to this specific pseudogene.
