Target
RNU6ATAC8P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA, Small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family (by sequence origin, but RNU6ATAC8P itself is a pseudogene and does not encode functional snRNA)
01

Overview

RNA, U6atac small nuclear 8, pseudogene (RNU6ATAC8P) is a pseudogene related to the U6atac small nuclear RNA, which is itself part of the minor spliceosome, a complex responsible for the splicing of rare minor introns in eukaryotic genes[1]. Pseudogenes are sequences similar to known genes but generally lack the ability to encode functional products. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed and may have regulatory roles, there is currently no evidence that RNU6ATAC8P has a biological function, acts as a biomarker, or is involved in disease. It is not considered a therapeutic target, and no drugs are known to interact with it[4][2]. There are many snRNA pseudogenes in the human genome with unknown function, and most are considered genomic relics without clinical utility[2][4].

03

Biological functions

No known biological function for this specific pseudogene.Pseudogenes can sometimes act as regulatory RNAs, producing transcripts that may be processed into small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or serve as decoys for microRNAs, thereby modulating gene expression. However, there is currently no evidence for a specific biological function for RNU6ATAC8P.
04

Disease associations

None established for RNU6ATAC8P itself.Although some pseudogenes have roles in cancer or other diseases by regulating coding genes, there is no data linking RNU6ATAC8P to disease.

Safety considerations

Not applicable.
06

Interacting drugs

None known. No drugs interact with this pseudogene.
07

Biomarkers

None known.
