RNA, U7 small nuclear 102 pseudogene (RNU7-102P) is a human genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene related to U7 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). The canonical U7 snRNA is part of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (U7 snRNP) complex and plays a key role in histone pre-mRNA processing by base pairing with the histone downstream element, which prompts cleavage factor recruitment[1][3][7]. However, pseudogenes such as RNU7-102P have lost their coding or functional capacity and generally do not produce a functional RNA or protein product. Although some pseudogenes can participate in gene regulatory networks—for example, by generating regulatory RNAs (such as siRNAs) or acting as microRNA decoys—there is currently no evidence that RNU7-102P plays such a role[8][6]. As a result, RNU7-102P is not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease gene at present. RNU7-102P is a noncoding, nonfunctional pseudogene; unless new evidence emerges, it should not be considered a classical molecular target in biomedical research or therapy[8][6].
