Overview

RNA, U7 small nuclear 119 pseudogene (RNU7-119P) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene belonging to the family of U7 small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs). U7 snRNAs are involved in the processing of histone pre-mRNA during mRNA maturation, acting as part of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex. However, RNU7-119P is a pseudogene, meaning it is a genomic sequence resembling a functional gene but generally regarded as non-functional or not expressed as a protein. Systematic research on RNU7 pseudogenes, including RNU7-119P, is limited, and there is no evidence it serves as a therapeutic target, has known interacting drugs, or acts as a biomarker. The RNU7-119P locus is not reported to be directly involved in recognized disease mechanisms, but as with some pseudogenes, it could play regulatory roles such as competing endogenous RNA activity or RNA interference if transcribed; no such specific function has been experimentally demonstrated for RNU7-119P[2][6][5].
