Overview

RNA, U7 small nuclear 133 pseudogene (RNU7-133P) is a classified pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences resembling functional genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[2][4]. The original U7 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) is critical in histone mRNA 3' end processing as part of the U7 snRNP complex[1][3], but RNU7-133P does not encode this function. Unlike the functional RNU7-1, which is required for proper histone pre-mRNA processing, RNU7-133P appears as a non-functional copy and has not been demonstrated to produce a transcript with regulatory or coding activity. It is not a therapeutic target, not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or regulator gene, and currently lacks evidence for involvement in any disease process or drug interaction.

Biological functions

Acts as a non-coding RNA remnant; no protein-coding functionPotentially involved in regulatory interactions typical of pseudogenes (e.g., competing endogenous RNA roles), although no specific function for RNU7-133P is documented
03

Disease associations

Other (no documented disease implication for RNU7-133P specifically; some pseudogenes have roles in cancer and other diseases, but none are established for this entry)
