Overview

RNA, U7 small nuclear 154 pseudogene (RNU7-154P) is one of many pseudogenes related to the U7 small nuclear RNA family[2][5]. U7 snRNA itself is a small nuclear RNA component of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex, which is essential for the 3' end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs in animals[5]. However, the RNU7-154P pseudogene is categorized as non-coding and is not believed to produce functional RNA or protein[2][5]. Pseudogenes generally arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition and usually lack regulatory elements essential for expression and function[4][5]. While some pseudogenes can have regulatory "decoy" functions by sequestering microRNAs or affecting gene expression, there is no evidence that RNU7-154P exhibits such activity[4][6]. No clinical relevance, disease associations, or potential as a therapeutic target have been reported for this pseudogene[2][5].
