RNA, U7 small nuclear 157 pseudogene (RNU7-157P) is a human genomic locus classified as a pseudogene derived from the U7 small nuclear RNA gene family and located on chromosome 7p11[3][1]. Unlike the functional U7 snRNA, which is part of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein involved in the 3' end processing of histone pre-mRNA[2][7], RNU7-157P does not produce a functional RNA or protein and is not believed to have direct biological activity. Pseudogenes like RNU7-157P are generally considered nonfunctional but can occasionally have regulatory roles or participate in genomic variation; currently, no evidence indicates that RNU7-157P is a therapeutic target or has direct involvement in human disease[1][4][6].
