RNA, U7 small nuclear 18 pseudogene (RNU7-18P)

Target
RNU7-18P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (derived from snRNA family)
01

Overview

The RNA, U7 small nuclear 18 pseudogene (RNU7-18P) is a genomic sequence in humans that resembles the functional U7 small nuclear RNA gene, but contains sequence features typical of reverse-transcribed pseudogenes and does not encode a functional RNA product[1][4]. Functional U7 snRNA is part of the U7 snRNP complex, which is essential for histone pre-mRNA processing by facilitating 3′ end cleavage, but the pseudogenes of U7 (including RNU7-18P) do not contribute to this process[2][3]. Multiple pseudogenes of U7 snRNA exist in humans and other mammals, are often detected by sequence homology, and may be annotated in genome resources, but have no known biological, disease, or therapeutic relevance[1][4]. This entry has no established role as a drug target or in disease biology, nor is it therapeutically actionable. Standard structured target data fields such as "interacting drugs", "mechanism of action", and "biomarkers" are not applicable to RNA pseudogenes like RNU7-18P.
