RNA, U7 small nuclear 19 pseudogene (RNU7-19P) is classified as a pseudogene of the U7 small nuclear RNA (U7 snRNA) gene family[1]. U7 snRNA is a functional component of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex, which is required for the 3' end processing of histone pre-mRNAs—a unique RNA processing step necessary for the maturation of replication-dependent histone mRNAs[4][5]. However, RNU7-19P specifically refers to a pseudogene, meaning it does not produce a functional RNA product and is not known to encode any protein or participate in biological processes[1]. There is no evidence that RNU7-19P is directly involved in disease, targeted by drugs, or serves as a clinically relevant receptor or enzyme. While functional U7 snRNA genes like RNU7-1 are associated with rare genetic disorders such as Aicardi-Goutières syndrome due to defects in histone pre-mRNA processing[2][3][4][5], pseudogenes such as RNU7-19P are considered non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and do not have established roles in normal physiology or pathology[1]. Thus, RNU7-19P is not a valid therapeutic target and is best regarded as a genomic marker without clinical or pharmacological significance[1].
