Overview

RNA, U7 small nuclear 190 pseudogene (RNU7-190P) is classified as a pseudogene of the U7 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[2]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are generally non-functional; they do not produce functional proteins or RNAs[8][2]. The genuine U7 snRNA plays a key role in the 3’ end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs and is a component of the U7 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex, which is essential for histone mRNA maturation in eukaryotes[1][3][6]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU7-190P does not encode functional U7 snRNA or contribute to this process[2]. There are no documented roles for RNU7-190P in human biology, no evidence of its relevance in disease, nor is it known to interact with drugs or serve as a therapeutic target[2]. Pseudogenes like RNU7-190P are not considered targets for therapy because they are typically “dead” copies of active genes and lack known biological or clinical significance[8][2].
